First it was Goji Berries. Tibor Fischl of GojiFarmUsa first brought them to
our attention in 2013 before he become one of the largest Goji Berry producers in the state. Fishl claimed it was the “new superfood”. Today, Fischl has over 8000 plants in Sonoma County, Ca. and is producing Goji Phyto-Brew, one of the few Goji Brews in the market.
Baobab came next.
Anna Hindley, founder and creator of TheOneBar uses Baobab as the foundation for their products. And from the statement on their website, Baobab is the perfect fruit. The fruit of the Baobab tree, when dried into a powder, is one of the most nutritionally-dense foods in the world. For centuries, communities in Africa and Australia have relied on the Baobab fruit to provide essential nutrition during the dry season. More calcium than milk, more antioxidants than Goji berries, and one of the highest concentrations of Vitamin C are just the beginning – this fruit powder also contains significant levels of magnesium, fiber, potassium, and pectin. According to Hindley, the pectin is what holds the bar together.
And, just when you think the superfood finders have found the newest, best and healthiest, along comes Moringa. Enter, Kuli Kuli.
Kuli Kuli is the brainchild of CEO and Co-Founder, Lisa Curtis. The entrepreneur acquired a taste for the moringa plant while working in Niger for the Peace Corp. The pervasive plant grows in tropical clients and the nutrient list boasts iron, calcium and protein with numbers through the roof.
The company will be presenting new products to compliment their already extensive line of powders, bars, tea and energy shots at the Winter Specialty Food Show in San Francisco, January 22-24.
