“I wanted my son to enjoy a snack but I also wanted it to be good for him”, Hindley explains. The stay at home mom, in a previous life, decided to take matters into her own hands, or should I say kitchen.
After searching northern CA grocery stores she realized there wasn’t much to choose from that her son could enjoy. That’s when she decided to create “One Bar.”
The One Bar contains one pure serving of fruit with no added sugars and, according to Hindley, is “the perfect size snack for kids” while still being loved and enjoyed by the entire family. The guilt-free bars are allergy-free, dairy-free and gluten free and Hindley has enriched the bars with baobab for a plethora of antioxidents. Hindley also added chicory for fiber. Hindley claims her ingredient deck is not only about what’s been put in, but what’s been kept out: no added sugar, gluten, peanuts or wheat makes Hindley a very proud mom. And Anna is not alone in expressing her enthusiasm for her product. Peets Coffee and Williams Sonoma have each brought the bars into their stores for Spring. “I couldn’t be more excited to share my bars with others. Moms will be excited about the smiles these bars bring to their children’s faces. It is the perfect snack.”
San Diego based Nutritionist, Shanais Pelka had similar concerns about what type of snacks to give her children and many of the patients at the perdiatrics clinic Pelkas works. The professional nutritionist put her talents to work by creating “Nii Bar”. These organic, gluten-free, kosher, soy-free and vegan bars come in five flavors: Almond Chocolate, Cherry Cashew, Peanut Butter, Cherry Coconut and Cacao Coconut. “I created high-quality, nutrient dense nutrition bars that are moist and delicious that my kids love,” Shanais said, adding, “Adult also love them.” Her kids, friends and family have been enthusiastically supportive.
Both Hindley and Pelka will be featuring their healthy snack bars at this year’s Natural Products Expo West trade show in Anaheim, CA March 6-9th. The Natural Products show features hundreds of all-natural food vendors presenting their products to buyers from across the United States and international countries.
“We are excited to present our products to all-natural grocery and specialty buyers”, explains Pelka, “This is our first show and the Natural Products Expo West attracts the right buyers for our bars”.
These two ambitious foodtrepreneur moms are part of a larger food movement; inspired to create healthier options for their families and at the same time changing the way America snacks.
