Bye-Bye pancake guy

If you have ever entertained the thought of becoming a flap jack flipper it may be time to change your career path. The flap jack flipping industry has been disrupted.

This morning’s breakfast buffet at the Holiday Inn Express in Vero Beach, Florida, was in standard form. Cereal, yogurt, toast, muffins, perfectly pre-formed mini omelets and a Pancake processing machine.

We’ve all seen the waffle iron, the pre-frozen toaster waffle and of course, the pre-frozen pancake. However, the pancake making machine at the Holiday Inn was impressive.

Press the button and out of the side, after a short conveyor belt ride, to perfectly formed, never before frozen pancakes appear. A slight cartwheel-styled flip onto the plate, belt side and viola, short stack.

The bag of batter – mixed in the kitchen by adding water to the bag – needs to be used every six hours. A squeezing rod that perfectly rolls the bag emptying a portion controlled amount of batter.

Flapjack guy, bye-bye
